THE PANEL
Fareeha Syed
Fareeha Syed holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from U.C. Berkeley and an M.A. in Arabic from UCLA. Her exposure to traditional Islamic scholars began in the mid-1990s at Zaytuna Institute, and extended to studies in Egypt and Jordan. Some of her teachers include Shaykh Hamza Yusuf Hanson, Shaykh Salik bin Siddina, Imam Zaid Shakir, and Shaykh Muhammad al-Yacoubi. She has taught at Islamic schools and homeschooling cooperatives in both the U.S. and Jordan since 2003. She currently lives in Amman, Jordan with her husband and two children.
Dr. Fareeha Khan
Dr. Fareeha Khan is an intellectual historian who works on issues related to modern society and Islamic legal and spiritual practice. She is founding member of the Sila Initiative and has served as editor for the Oxford Encyclopedia of Islam and Law.
Fatima Quraishi
Fatima Quraishi holds a B. A. In sociology from the University of Virginia. She has been a homeschooling mom for the past twenty years and currently lives in Connecticut.
